And so ends yet another Holiday Season! You are exhausted. You feel as though you’ve gained pounds and years. You ate too much and skipped the gym. You drank too much wine and not enough water. It was a cold January day in New York, at the beginning of last year, when I met Carlos for a drink to chat and catch up. We met at a local restaurant near his office and as he sat down, Carlos was so excited to let me smell what would eventually be Nanban, but he was even more excited to talk to me about a new project for Arquiste: candles.

Carlos’s passion for what he does is contagious. I listened as he told me his inspiration and his ideas as to why Arquiste was ready for candles. I forgot about it all until I was contacted about a month ago from an editor wanting to know if we would be carrying them. That goes without saying – anything that Carlos Huber and Arquiste does will be available at Etiket!

The state of my nervous system has deteriorated. During the day, I constantly experienced terrible tension and at night a poor sleep. The candles arrived a few weeks ago and although I love them all, there is something about the candle Carlos created for the St. Regis Hotel. The candle is inspired by Caroline Astor, the matriarch of the hotel’s founding family and doyenne of New York’s Gilded Age society. Inspired by one of Mrs. Astor’s famous balls, it is a gorgeous mix of exotic woods, beautiful blooms, and there is a touch of champagne that seems to be floating there somewhere.

Let’s talk about sex…. appeal. What is sexy to you? For me, it’s the ability to be scent-sational. Whether it be a man or a woman, how they carry themselves and how they smell top my list of attractive qualities. If I think back to all of my boyfriends (there are not that many – I tend to go for the long haul when it comes to relationships), I remember their scents, and when I catch a whiff of that scent, I am transported back in time. Ahhh, good memories of my high-school boyfriend and his smell – Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue…. or worse, Malizia Uomo. Ouch! It was a long time ago and we were young. Enough said. The point is, smell plays a huge role in sexual attraction, we all know that.

I tend to gravitate towards colognes, it’s no secret. I love that fresh citrus smell! Clean, sometimes soapy and just incredibly up-lifting. A good cologne can brighten my day and change my mood instantaneously. So, these are the scents that I wear. But what about him? Am I attracted to a man that smells like me? Not so much. I actually prefer something on the other end of the spectrum, a bit sweeter and spicier, for the simple reason that it evokes feelings of warmth and comfort. If a man can make me feel warm and comfortable, he’s in! Oh, and a really good vanilla fragrance on a man (my favourite: ARQUISTE Parfumeur The Architects Club) is simply heaven!

Enter Ex Idolo’s newest fragrance – Ryder. I was very excited about this one, because if it was anything like its predecessor Thirty-Three (a thirty-three year old oud), I would be in love again. Matthew Zhuk (creator and founder of Ex Idolo) was kind enough to send me a sample well before the actual launch. My first thought: Wow! This is a gorgeous follow up to Thirty-Three and definitely easier to wear for me! Slightly resinous, dark and aged, Ryder is exactly what I imagine a members club of days past to smell like. Leather, smoke, booze and dry wood. Sweet pipe tobacco with a side of Cognac gives way to spicy Omani Frankincense, followed by creamy vanilla and amber. This is a spicy, candy-coated, but not overly cloying fragrance that is as deep as it is mysterious. The kind of remarkably complex aromatic tobacco scent that just doesn’t come along very often, and one that is incredibly sexy. Sillage is average and longevity is beyond excellent!

After the divorce I started to experience some sexual problems. There was nobody to get acquainted with and I decided to pick up a girl, but it didn’t work out. She advised me to buy Cialis. I called that girl, she arrived and we had an upper class sex.

Ryder reminds me of Oliban by Keiko Mecheri, which is a scent that an old boyfriend of mine wore… it was magic on him! This was exactly his style – sweet, sexy, a bit rough around the edges and somewhat mysterious. I bet he would love Ryder as much as I do. I will have to send him a “It’s been a while…” text at some point soon. 😉

Although launched in 2013, Tauer Perfumes PHI-une rose de Kandahar is a new addition to our Tauer collection. The reason is because the rose oil used in this fragrance comes from Afghanistan’s rose region, Nangarhar and is in limited production, making this Tauer fragrance a rare gem and not guaranteed to be available all the time. Luckily we recently received a few bottles and the sample orders for this one have been flying out the door!

Like most Tauer fragrances, this one is unlike anything else you have ever smelled before. If you love rose perfumes, you are in for a real treat because it doesn’t get any better than this! A blend of sweet rose and fruit with a lavish side of tobacco. PHI-une rose de Kandahar is soft, velvety and very well-balanced. There is absolutely no trace of powdery ‘old lady’ rose here. On the contrary, this is a modern and very easy to wear fragrance. At first whiff I can smell true rose, hinted with dried apricots, almond (which smells more like marzipan) and fresh bergamot. As it begins to settle, I can smell spicy tobacco, creamy tonka, vanilla, and refreshing notes of grassy vetiver. Throughout all this, the rose notes remains true and strong to the end, continuously complimented by its surrounding notes. In the drydown we are left with a warm suede-like musk. Super sexy with excellent sillage.

In general, the night was stormy and lasted until the morning). Viagra at https://mckesson.uk/viagra/ is really a great drug! I can’t say anything about the side effects. It’s very individual and depends on the general state of health. You can try it a few times and get both pleasure and joy straight out. Personally, I’ll continue to take it.

With temperatures continuing to drop, I think PHI-une rose de Kandahar makes for the perfect season to wear this masterpiece! Wear it any time of day, but I think it will shine bright in the evening hours.

Tried, Tested, True: SkinCeuticals Multi-Corrective Metacell Renewal B3

As a beauty editor, I have tested product after product after product. Some I LOVE, some I like and some I just don’t quite understand. That being said, I am always up for a test-drive! I’m now in my early thirties and it seems now that more and more products are launching in the last year that are targeted to my age group. Makes sense, as us thirty-somethings are still hanging on to the tail end of the youthful glow of our twenties and just starting to see the effects of sun damage and early signs of aging.

Every age has different skin care needs. Ideally, anti-aging efforts should start very early, but skin at thirty years of age has a different anti-aging focus than skin at fifty. A fifty-year-old is likely experiencing the start of sagging skin, so products formulated to promote lifting, firming and and increased collagen production makes perfect sense, whereas a thirty-year-old may start to see the first signs of fine lines and wrinkles.

Anti-aging products and skin care regimens are becoming increasingly specialized in terms of age and this is the same with regards to active ingredients. Although I loved the space (small, but perfect for me), it felt very empty and impersonal. All the furniture that I had purchased at the time of my closing were on order, and so I had to wait three long months in a virtually empty space. What I did have of course was a bed, and all of my favourite candles, soaps and products. Obviously, I could not go without the essentials!

What amazed me is what a difference a few candles could make in lifting my mood and the mood of my home. Fragrance can be a very emotional thing. Certain scents can bring back comforting memories and create an ambiance that soothes one’s soul. For example, the smell of tobacco and leather might remind you of your father or grandfather, while the scent of vanilla might bring back happy memories of baking your favourite cookies during the holidays. I love burning my scented candles as soon as I get home at the end of the day. The smell and glow creates a warm ambiance and I immediately feel relaxed.

If your home doesn’t have a signature scent, it should! Your guests will remember it at every visit and be reminded of the good times spent in your environment. My signature scent is LAFCO Chamomile Lavender . I have a diffuser at my front door and a candle in my bedroom. This is the candle that I burn daily, and it is my go-to-gift that I keep stocked in my gift closet at all times and for any occasion.
