In the past few weeks, three new fragrance arrivals have delighted our clients and flown off our shelves. Delicious and indulgent with an intoxicating twist, each is destined to be the talk of the fragrance world for months to come. So what are you waiting for? Join the conversation!
ESCAPADE GOURMANDE Maison Mataha
Our newest brand, Paris’ Maison Mataha, has only released one fragrance, but they only needed one to take over the world. Escapade Gourmande is nostalgic, creamy vanilla diffused through pale pink clouds of addictive white musk, forming an intoxicating, truly endless trail. It’s no wonder this fragrance had a mile-long waitlist before it arrived!
For lovers of indulgent gourmands, Escapade Gourmande sets itself apart.
DELTA OF VENUS ERIS Parfums
The bewitching, boundless creativity of this New York brand continues with this fruity sensation. In a sinfully decadent re-telling of Adam and Eve, the “forbidden fruit” takes the form of a guava accord so visceral, textured and immersive it’s practically virtual reality. It seriously must be smelled to be believed.
For lovers of juicy, delicious scents, Delta of Venus is a historic achievement with a dash of grown-up sex appeal.
FACES OF FRANCIS Vilhelm Parfumerie
Riffing on the memories and desires of painter Francis Bacon, famous for his disturbing deconstructions of the human form, Vilhelm has managed to find a gentle magnetic warmth underneath all that brooding. Featuring smoky wood, resins and a lovely pistachio accord smooth like organic nut butter, the first great fall fragrance is already here.
For lovers of mysterious woods, Faces of Francis is artistic, confident and effortlessly wearable.

It’s just the kind of olfactory hallucination Zoologist is famous for, and luckily, this trip is a happy one. Subtly sweet and blissfully breezy, Dodo Jackfruit is a one-of-a-kind scented landscape from Toronto’s favourite mad scent scientists.

The founders of some of our favourite brands share what they've learned from their mothers, and what they're choosing to pass down to their children.
In honour of Mother’s Day, we’ve asked the founders of some of our favourite brands to share with us what they’ve learned from their mothers, and what they’re choosing to pass down to their children. From protecting their skin from the sun to embracing their inner beauty, we wanted to know a little more about the lessons they have learned that made them the women and mothers that they are today.
Tata Harper, Founder of Tata Harper
“My mother and grandmother would always have spa parties with their friends and they all took the time for beauty every day. It was a lot of DIY face masks and treatments using ingredients like avocado, honey, and lemon, and things growing around us locally or fresh from the store. We often made our own honey mask with natural, pure honey. It’s super inexpensive to make and I find it super hydrating and refreshing.
The advice I want to pass down to my daughter is that beautiful skin comes from what you are putting in and on your body, and it’s important to be mindful of this at a young age. Focus on a good regimen and keep your skin healthy and hydrated.”
“My mom has always been very vocal around sun protection, so I developed a love for wide-brimmed hats early.
I want my daughters to understand that beauty is about a trusted and deep connection to ourselves, our community, our world and all its beautiful creatures.”
“I am so thankful to my mother for teaching me that skin concerns need to be professionally diagnosed and treated. I suffered from hormonal acne all through my teens and my mother made sure I saw dermatologists and skin therapists on a regular basis. This truly saved my skin from serious scarring. My mother and I also did facials together at home – a fun tradition I am continuing with my two boys!
Growing up in Finland, my mother also taught me how to enjoy the relaxing and detoxing benefits of a sauna from an early age. I remember my mother dipping freshly cut birch branches into a bail of hot water, and we would breathe in the essential oil vapours. A magical smell of summer and motherly love I will never forget.”
“One of the first things I got from her is the idea of accepting myself the way I am. My mom is not a big makeup fan, so this understanding of my unique beauty, and no need to fix anything in me definitely comes from her. But also, with this, came the idea of preserving our bodies, by drinking at least 2 litres of water per day and wearing sunscreen daily, even on the days I don’t leave the house! Thanks to her, I’ve been doing that since I was 10 years old – before it was a trend! Haha!
On the hair side, she gave me a nice trick to get natural highlights after going to the beach – in the Brazilian days – or in very sunny days, which is to spray chamomile tea on the hair before bathing in the sun. It really works!”
“Less is more. When your skin goes wrong, the tendency is to throw the entire kitchen sink at it, but she always told me never to do that. An to do the exact reverse – scale it back. Allow your skin to calm and rebalance and then take a methodical approach, re-introducing one product at a time, to establish what your skin likes and doesn’t like.
Never pick or squeeze your spots. This will be no surprise, but it’s one thing my mum shared with me when I was growing up as a teenager. This is really important to prevent scarring and stop the spread of more spots.”
“My grandmother Evelyn taught me the importance of skincare rituals at an early age. She taught me how to cleanse, how to moisturize, and how to never ever go to bed with makeup on the skin. I have followed those skincare rituals religiously since she taught me them as a little girl, and I have to say it’s all paid off.
My mother has always been low-key in terms of beauty and cosmetics. She takes good care of her skin, but she only very occasionally wears makeup. My mother taught me the importance of being confident and comfortable in my appearance without makeup. She also taught me how to love my body regardless of how it looks, what number it weighs on a scale, how it is behaving, or how it is dressed at a certain moment. She taught me to love my body for what it does for me each day – for what it can and does do. In fact, we never even owned a scale growing up, so I often didn’t know my body weight. It just wasn’t important, and that has shaped my self-love and body positivity to this day.”
“My mom taught me beauty secrets by just being herself. She was effortless and no-fuss but always pulled together. She has strong bone structure and beautiful skin so, really needed very little in makeup – maybe even just lip and go. She taught me about colour types. Although I am blonde, I am a Winter. Most blondes think pastels and Spring colours work, but as a Winter, dark blues, black, whites, etc. – avoiding yellows – work best. She was absolutely correct.”
“The best beauty advice that I got from my mother is that you are only beautiful on the outside when you are beautiful or happy on the inside. She also told me that if you aren’t wearing SPF, wear a hat!
For my girls, I want them to know that makeup isn’t what will make them beautiful. Feeling beautiful from the inside out is what really matters and what truly shows.”
“Strangely, almost all the beauty/mantra advice I received was from my dad. Just two weeks ago, he offered to mix up some turmeric for my mask instead with my mom, I think I learned more from observing. She taught me to be humble, quietly fierce and incredibly kind. She has an incredible sense of dignity and from her, I learned that true beauty comes from who you are.
The advice I would share with my daughter is to drink water, gets lots of sleep, wear SPF always… those are critical to nurture your outward beauty. True beauty comes from the soul- how kind you are to others and how kind you are to yourself.”
“My mom is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to skincare, and I’m grateful for the advanced techniques she’s taught me. Red light therapy, microneedling, and chemical peels are just a few of the treatments she’s educated me on to keep my skin looking its best. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve also incorporated powerful ingredients like Vitamin C, Retin A, stem cells, growth factors, copper peptides, and more into my routine.
In addition to these advanced treatments, my mom also instilled some basic skincare practices that have stuck with me over the years. Never go to bed with makeup on and always double cleanse at night to ensure your skin is healthy and prepped for your skincare products.
One piece of advice that I’ve taken to heart is to wear SPF every day, even when indoors, and to reapply it multiple times throughout the day. I’ve found a powder SPF that doesn’t interfere with my makeup, making it easy to touch up throughout the day.
My mom has always emphasized the importance of taking care of oneself, and that includes exercise and eating healthy, balanced meals. Making an effort to get outside and breathe in fresh air each day is also key to a healthy mind and body. And at night, it’s important to take a break from screens and noise and unwind with a soothing bath or a good book.
Thanks to my mom’s guidance and these valuable beauty tips, I’ve learned to prioritize self-care and take care of myself so that I can take care of those around me.”
“My mother raised me with all of the beauty secrets from Japanese culture and was the inspiration behind the development of BeautéJaponica. The general concept of our scalp serum was also inspired by ingredients that she shared with me that helped Japanese women grow beautiful hair for centuries.
Beyond that, she has also taught me that beauty comes from within, and that nurturing your senses is true nutrition for your soul.”
“The best beauty secret from my mother was – without a doubt – discovering the powerful benefits of mānuka honey! At first, it helped my cold sores, and eventually, it became my go-to remedy for skin outbreaks, sore throats, and other issues. It’s the natural remedy I had been searching for, and I loved not having to decide between natural or effective.
This beauty secret eventually sparked my entrepreneurial journey. It inspired me to establish Mahoni, a tribute to nature’s potent remedy. Thank you, Mom!”
There’s a version of a spring scent that’s all freshness: easy breezy vibes. And certainly, we all want a bit of a refresh when the weather starts to warm. But as the snow melts and the days get longer, what’s really happening? The plant life around us, a complex network of stems, leaves, flowers, and trees, begins to upload nutrients from the thawing soil below. Cooling and zippy humidity, spicy and green energy, and the invisible songs of new flowers come storming into the air, like a crowd pouring back out to the theatre lobby after a secret show.
It’s this new vibrancy, both floral and earthy, chilled but warming, that these scents remind us of. Many contain these contrasts within their evolution – fading from sheer to delicious, from new green growth to a delicate coziness. All of them, we think, have the potential to make you feel renewed.
Neroli Nasimba EDP MAISON CRIVELLI A modern, abstracted neroli casts long, honeyed shadows on an impossibly sheer leather accord. Clean, transcendent warmth.
Chypre 21 EDP HEELEY PARFUMS Chic as a French film and easy as a walk in the park, Heeley’s bracingly modern update of the “chypre” archetype is seamless, sumptuous, and suffused with light.
Nectary EDP JORUM STUDIO Fruit flesh and riotous flowers burst through the grey, settling on a snarling earthy musk below. Both cheekily old-school and shockingly new.
You or Someone Like You EDP ETAT LIBRE D’ORANGE Green and creamy, unique but breezy. This olfactory fantasy of an L.A. everywoman is unisex magic, merging skin with stem, ambition with freedom.
Dupont Circle EDT MONSILLAGE Crisp springtime in a bottle, as invigorating as a chilled breeze caressing rose bushes and old-growth barks. An optimistic inhale of new beginnings.
French Flower EDP MATIERE PREMIERE A buttery laser beam of freshly farmed, organic tuberose awakens and sings. A windows-open, painfully pretty new day dawns.
Original Santal EDP CREED A spicy, effervescent garden of ginger and herbs scattering on a weightless base of tonka and sandalwood. A perfect example of how dynamic classic perfumery can be.
Molecule 01+ Black Tea EDT ESCENTRIC MOLECULES A velvety-woody bassline anchors a spring-plucked airy tea note. A dewy mist hovering over magically magnetic skin.
Sakura EDP ORMONDE JAYNE Like the snowy pink piles of delicate blossoms falling from spring’s cherry trees: a watercolour in scent. Effortless, delicate, and delicious.
Live Meaningful Work EDP MELEG PERFUMES A rustic ode to earth and sunshine, this atmospheric scent cleanses and anchors in equal measure. The wild textures of a new frontier.
SPRING AWAKENINGS SAMPLE PACK
ETIKET
Ten fragrances which smell the way spring feels. Featuring 0.7ml samples of Neroli Nasimba, Chypre 21, Nectary, You or Someone Like You, Dupont Circle, Sakura, French Flower, Live Meaningful Work, Molecule 01+ Black Tea, and Original Santal.
A look at the Etiket team's most-loved fragrances from the past year.
This year, we saw many memorable, boundary-pushing fragrances arrive at Etiket. In fact, there was so much excitement coming in from so many different directions, there seemed no way to sum it all up. But more and more, nothing is ever just one thing; to borrow the title from one of this year’s best films, we are surrounded by Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. And one of the easiest ways to switch things up and transform with the ever-changing world is through scent.
This year, we divided our favourite new fragrance arrivals into two categories: Light & Shadow. But even here, all is not what it seems. These shadowy scents may be dark, calming, and cozy, but they can also contain surprise: new textures, new ingredients, and an energizing sense of space. Similarly, these light fragrances are not without depth, and especially not without mystery. They may be cheerful, but they’ve got secrets.
As you explore, you could ask yourself which category you’re drawn to, and whether any from the other category surprised you. More than anything, all ten fragrances make a tantalizing offer: isn’t it time for a bit of reinvention?
Edinburgh perfumer Euan McCall is a virtuoso at capturing the wild textures of his unusual ingredients as if frozen in a strange still life. In his newest, tart rhubarb becomes a bewitching fog, cheekily caressing driftwood and pink lotus flowers, imploring another sniff.
London Funk EDP VILHELM PARFUMERIE
The name is correct: this scent starts green and funky. But amidst the chaotic party of this avant-garde opening, a blissful, sexy-cool ambergris drydown is sneaking up on you, ready to steal your heart.
Paragon EDP INITIO PARFUMS PRIVÉS
A burst of juicy plum mingles with soothing palo santo and sage, the whole affair sluicing over polished sticks of sandalwood. A potion of confident ease, and a refreshing new take Initio’s signature magnetism.
Like This EDP ETAT LIBRE D’ORANGE
This collaboration with Tilda Swinton finds the everyday smells of her highland cottage (and the breathtaking views outside) merging into a weightless, ecstatic dance of candied ginger, wildflowers, and singing earth. A textural marvel, and one of our perfume director’s all-time favourite scents.
Ibiza Nights EDP CARNER BARCELONA
An unapologetic sex bomb laughing in the face of “bad taste”, this perfectly-constructed signature pours glamourous sun-soaked florals over pear and vanilla and parties like it’s 1999. We love it.
Shadow
Indigo Smoke EDP ARQUISTE
Cool mountain air at dusk, sparkling fireflies of freshness and an urgent waft of crisp pine smoke, billowing in softly over hours. This modern masterpiece unfolds like clockwork, overflowing with poetry, place, and a cinematic elegance.
Plum in Cognac EDP SCENTS OF WOOD
A deeply pleasurable hug of scent, with wood-barrel-infused organic alcohol anchoring all that plummy, boozy, sophisticated gourmand depth. Smells inescapably familiar yet not quite like anything else.
Ambre Chromatique Extrait de Parfum MAISON CRIVELLI
Amber and vanilla get their groove back in this colourful, hypnotic ode to luscious, off-dry warmth. Another addictive, forward-thinking work from “Ganymede” perfume star Quentin Bisch.
Musc Amarante EDP L’ARTISAN PARFUMEUR
The delightfully bonkers premise of a collection inspired by garden vegetables reached its apex in this earthy, serene, strangely wearable pairing of white musk and beetroot. Its beauty, and versatility, just might surprise you.
Haltane EDP PARFUMS DE MARLY
A sumptuous harmony of oud, leather and spice, vividly modernized with a kiss of sugary praline. This fragrance has all the refined luxury we expect from Parfums de Marly with added richness and a rugged edge.

We are excited that Mahoni has arrived at Etiket! Mahoni is all about Manuka honey, an active ingredient with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Whether you are looking for a remedy for common skincare concerns or to soothe an internal malaise, Mahoni will come to the rescue.
While most honey is known to have antimicrobial and soothing benefits, manuka honey is known for its particularly pronounced medicinal benefits.
WHAT IS MANUKA HONEY?
Firstly, it comes from manuka flowers. Manuka is a bush in the myrtle family, native to New Zealand and southeast Australia. Monofloral manuka honey (meaning honey made by bees foraging exclusively on manuka flowers) contains uniquely high levels of methylglyoxal, a chemical known to be antimicrobial, tissue healing, and digestion-enhancing. The properties of this honey are so renowned that all New Zealand manuka honey made for export must be independently tested for purity and potency. After testing every batch twice for authenticity by specialized labs in Germany and New Zealand, they are assigned an “MGO” rating to attest to the concentration of their star ingredient. Mahoni products use manuka honey certified at two different methylglyoxal levels: 100 MGO (average potency and safe for daily use) and 600 MGO (high potency and safe for short-term use).
Mahoni’s Manuka Honey
One of the first things you’ll notice about this honey is its modest levels of sweetness. Manuka honey is not a sugar bomb — instead, subtle grains of sugar intermingle with rustic woody and citrusy aromas, with a refreshing herbaceous finish that reminds us a bit of all-natural root beer. It’s complex, balanced and delicious, and when applied topically, noticeably lacks grocery-store honey’s stubborn gummy stickiness.
Manuka honey is a great example of a naturally-occurring substance that, as if by magic, contains heaps of stuff that our skin (and entire bodies) love. Whether you’re new to holistic beauty or have been following an inside-out wellness philosophy for years, Mahoni’s manuka products are a potent (and delicious) addition to your routine.
YOUR GO-TO NATURAL REMEDIES
Skin Remedy
You’ll want to keep Skin Remedy on hand everywhere you go! This skincare travel essential nurtures the lips and skin through its naturally high concentrations of methylglyoxal (600 MGO). For natural treatment of sensitive skin, manuka honey helps maintain clear skin by reducing blemishes and nurturing irritations, such as easing the symptoms of cold sores. The honey’s antibacterial qualities can help reduce bacteria growth that can inflame the pores. Skin Remedy coats, seals and protects the skin and is suitable for acute irritations. To use, apply to the blemished or irritated area using your finger and leave it on as long as possible to allow the methylglyoxal to unfold.
Daily Boost
Stick to your dedicated health and beauty regimen and boost it with a daily spoonful of this manuka honey. Perfect for everyday use, this product has a moderate level of methylglyoxal (100 MGO). It can be eaten purely for an added sweetness by adding it to your breakfast such as on toast, in yogurt and oatmeal, poured into teas and smoothies or used as (or added into) a face or hair mask. You can even eat this delicious healing honey by the spoonful! Daily Boost will quickly become a staple that you can treat your body with daily, both inside and out. The stylish and large environmentally friendly and sustainable glass jar will also add a nice touch to your kitchen counter.
Inner Remedy
Nurture your throat, stomach and bowel with this strong concentration of manuka honey (600 MGO) which comes conveniently packaged with twelve sachets, making them sanitary and great for travelling. The Inner Remedy sachets are great to have on the go to soothe and ease acute irritations, from a sore throat to stomach upset. To use, bend the sachet in the middle, squeeze and swallow the honey. For best results, it is recommended not to eat or drink 15 minutes after to allow the methylglyoxal to unfold. Experience this pure remedy for your insides to help maintain a healthy gut, ease digestive discomfort and treat throat irritations.
The Complete Set Bundle
Intrigued by the brand but can’t decide which product to try? Be prepared for whatever life throws at you on the daily with The Complete Set Bundle to experience all the benefits that manuka honey has to offer, both inside and out. The set includes all products from the daily and acute ranges for ultimate wellness: Daily Boost, Skin Remedy and Inner Remedy.
Our top 10 fragrances for summer transport you to destinations near and far.
As the world rediscovers the joy of travel, we decided to curate our summer sample pack with fragrances that not only are perfect for warmer weather, but also transport us to fascinating destinations around the world.
Whether evoking the coconut, vanilla and wild gardenias of the Seychelles, the coniferous mountain forests of Alberta, the yuzu-studded steam baths of Kyoto or the Victorian violet gardens of the United Kingdom, our picks for summer scents are a gateway to fragrant frontiers near and far, while also serving as the perfect scent pairings for sunny summer fun.
Hiram Green VIVACIOUS
Destination: Isle of Wright, United Kingdom
Violet purples. Lime green leaves. Sherbet oranges. Taffy pinks. Inspired by the candy-coloured gardens of the Victorians, for whom the violet was a particular treasure, this all-natural masterpiece swirls and dances with the indescribable, sweet and sour ecstasy of real flowers billowing in symphony on a seaside wind.
Take a sniff and be transported to the Isle of Wight, an island off the southern coast of England where Queen Victoria built her summer residence, Osborne House. Walk the gorgeously manicured gardens of topiary and peak into the antique greenhouses, where fragrant rows of parma violets still grow.
Meleg ARASHIYAMA
Destination: Kyoto, Japan
The air is thick with cool humidity as you stroll through the endless rows of a bamboo forest. Clad in wood and stone, a secluded “ryokan” inn beckons with the pleasures of an onsen; a volcanic steam bath of teal grey, misty water teeming with fragrant minerals.
A remarkable scent illusion: a serene, deeply refreshing trip to the traditional hot springs of Kyoto’s Arashiyama Mountain, where whole yuzu fruit are tossed into the waters for an extra touch of citrus oil festivity. Notes of magnolia, tea and the most delicate cedar incense imaginable immerse you in gentle clouds of invisible steam.
Monsillage ROUTE DU QUAI
Destination: Rivière-Ouelle, Quebec
Named from an Algonquin word meaning “where rushes grown on the water’s edge”, the Kamouraska region of Quebec is an idyllic expanse of salt marshes, fishing villages, lush farmland and panoramic sky. Montreal-based perfumer Isabelle Michaud spent the summers of her youth here, and named this perfume after the road that led to her cottage.
A marine freshness permeates the air, with a breezy blend of wild local herbs and grasses adding a deeply textured sense of place. Abstract facets of transparent flowers add the crucial emotional element: the giddy anticipation of a childhood summer about to begin.
Vilhelm Parfumerie BASILICO & FELLINI
Destination: Rome, Italy
The Italians so closely associated love with basil that, in days gone by, a sprig of the herb placed on a woman’s balcony was a symbolic invitation to her suitor. Years later, the carnivalesque entanglements of Roman romance were bottled, still fizzing, in the films of Federico Fellini, who invited viewers on deeply personal joyrides around his chaotic, glamourous city.
Smell this pastoral dream sequence pulled direct from a Fellini film. The fruity, leafy enchantment of fresh figs and savoury green basil blends airy innocence and urban sophistication, the rustic scents of the Italian countryside infused with the urgent zest of life in an ancient metropolis.
Imaginary Authors THE SOFT LAWN
Destination: New Haven, Connecticut
If you’ve ever seen “Gilmore Girls”, you can smell how the verdant combo of quaint Americana, witty banter and upper-class anxiety turns the minutiae of small-town life into an endless epic. People in this part of the world seem to live submerged in oceans of power, history and tweed, determined to carve out their own slice of destiny.
A trip to picturesque New Haven, an affluent city on Long Island Sound which brims with the seaside charms of New England and plays host to Yale University, is an invitation into this forbidden world. Smell the tart linden blossoms and ivy-covered stone as you walk between museums, as locals exude crisp vetiver and the mossy scent of the tennis court.
Libertine Fragrance SOFT WOODS
Destination: Jasper, Alberta
In Jasper National Park, the terrain is a soaring architecture of geology and light. Framed by simulation-perfect mountains patterned in abstract colour-fields of “wilderness”, each sun-dappled valley and canyon seems to contain more air than should fit between the water and the sky.
From this textural network of plant life and landscape: the smell of the subalpine forest in summer. Alberta perfumer Josh Smith magically transcribes it, with impressionistic touches of luminous rose to capture all that light, spirit, and spatial complexity. A chorus of juniper, balsam fir, and the trillion-fold factories of plant oil carpeting the so-called “Hall of the Gods”.
Gallivant LOS ANGELES
Destination: Los Angeles, California
Like almost any massive city, Los Angeles is an electric clash of energies; of histories exalted and forgotten. Smell the hypnotic sheen of Hollywood, gleaming in the glow of vintage neon and sepia California sunlight; wild Pacific coastlines studded with aromatic sagebrush; desert-dwelling New Age millionaires shrouded in pacifying incense.
Then there are the fragrant outposts of more enduring cultures that have collected in this place: Mexican neighbourhoods perfumed by garlands of intoxicating tuberose, honeyed narcissus and skewers of juicy pineapple. The soul of Los Angeles is a smooth and carefree cocktail, breezy and addictive.
Heeley PALM
Destination: La Digue, Seychelles
A little archipelago scattered across the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles were seemingly tailor-made for maximum island beachiness. The famous beaches of La Digue island, like Anse Source-D’Argent, are flanked by undulating rock formations eroded into waveforms that mimic the cyan sea, and punctuated with palm tree exclamation marks.
After brunch at the resort, you might take a trip to the L’Union Estate vanilla farm, before hiking past bushes of the rare and highly fragrant Wright’s Gardenia on your way to lounge lazily in the coconut-studded sand. One sniff of this cheeky cocktail brings all these heady, creamy, cartoon-coloured beach vibes sailing in on a warming breeze.
Goldfield & Banks VELVET SPLENDOUR
Destination: Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, South Australia
For one thing, there’s the slang. We all know at least one nugget of endearing Aussie shorthand, playfully reinforcing its status as a quirky upside-down-land at the bottom of the earth. And so encountering a flower with a name like a TV puppet, we are disarmed, unprepared for the sultry, summery, cinematic plushness of the scent of the Wattle Flower.
A type of mimosa, they grow wild on Flinders Ranges, a rugged, sweeping mountain range in South Australia. Delicate yellow clouds, they’re softly powdery and almost sweet, the blossom-y aroma polished into freshness by the raging sun. How Australian they are: innocent puffs of joy thriving on the knife-edge of a wild and unknown world.
Tauer COLOGNE DU MAGHREB
Destination: Tangier, Morocco
Created in Germany in 1709 by an Italian perfumer inspired by the citrus groves of his homeland, the original “eau de cologne” began as a poetic intersection of place. Perfect for applying after a cold shower before venturing into the summer heat, these feather-light formulations suspend botanical beauty in fleeting waves on the skin.
Centuries later, a Swiss perfumer uses the frame of a “cologne” to capture the warm glow of a Tangier sunrise, merging European and North African influences as the city does itself. A seamless blend of aromatics, 100% natural, pools like liquid sunshine: citrus oil flowing over bundles of aromatic herbs on a rocky landscape of cedar, vetiver and blooming Moroccan flowers.

Perfume is a luxury. And on days like Earth Day, when we audit the necessities and excesses of our lifestyle and their effects on the health of the planet, it can seem like luxuries are, by definition, out of sync with the natural world.
However, there are fragrance brands making steps to work within the bounds of nature. Some produce perfume using only plant-based materials. Others have spearheaded initiatives in favour of sustainable production and radical transparency.
Read on for a list of all-natural and sustainable brands, as well as a curated list of their scents we think you’ll love.

His vibrant compositions have been praised by perfume experts and enthusiasts alike. Each Hiram Green scent is proof that polished, world-class perfume can be made solely from natural ingredients.
SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES
HERMETICA
Hermetica is a collection of molecular fragrances inspired by the ancient practice of alchemy. Hermetica founders John and Clara Molloy created the brand on a foundation of sustainable manufacturing and ingredient transparency. Their bottles are made from recycled glass, and their boxes are made from biodegradable, recycled paper and zero plastic.
In addition, Hermetica has partenered with Planète Urgence, the French environmental non-profit organization, to finance the planting of more than 5,000 trees in Madagascar and Indonesia. With every purchase, you will be supporting reforestation programs in the region.
Hermetica uses a blend of natural and molecular ingredients, and features a unique raw material index on their website which catalogs every ingredient in their formulations (a rarity in perfume).
MAISON CRIVELLI
Maison Crivelli is a new French perfume house practicing a philosophy of slow perfume. Their scents showcase classic ingredients in surprising new blends, resulting in groundbreaking new synaesthetic scent experiences.
Their fragrances are bottled in eco-responsible packaging, with an eye to reduce waste. They use 100% cardboard boxes without plastic, hand crafted and created from artistic FSC Italian paper, and wrap them in biodegradable cellophane which is produced from wood.
Their founder Thibaud Crivelli’s long experience with sourcing natural raw materials led him to support the Cœur de Forêt (Heart of the Forest) association, which supports the sustainable farming of patchouli in Indonesia. For every purchase of 3 bottles, Maison Crivelli finances the planting of one sustainable patchouli cutting.
GOLDFIELD & BANKS
Goldfield & Banks is the first luxury perfume house in Australia. It was founded to represent the majestic, varied landscapes the country is known for, as well as showcase the indispensable natural raw materials they produce, such as sandalwood, buddha wood, boronia, blue cypress, wattle (mimosa), and even oud.
Working closely with Australian farmers, they prize traceability and quality in their materials. Their fragrances and ingredients are cruelty free and child labor free. Their bottles feature wooden caps made of repurposed driftwood, and are packaged in FSC paper boxes with biodegradable cellophane.
