Last weekend I traveled to Florence for what was an unforgettable fragrant experience with Simon Tooley at Pitti Fragranze! This international fragrance exhibit brought together the best in artistic perfumery from over 200 of the most exciting brands in the world of fragrance! Simon and I had an amazing time discovering some new fragrance lines, as well as established brands and we even re-discovered our love for some of the fragrances that we already carry at Etiket! Of course, we also got to enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in Italy… which involved food, gelato, some window shopping and of course more gelato!
One of the highlights of my Pitti Fragranze experience was meeting up with Lucas Szczesniak of Chemist in the Bottle again. Like in Milan last March at Esxence , Lucas was happy to share his finds with me and he certainly has a nose that I can trust! After two days of sniffing and chatting with creators, noses and lovers of fragrance, I walked away inspired and excited to share some of my fragrant finds with you.

Le Galion: A historic French Perfume house that recently relaunched nine of it’s original formulas dating back as far as the 1930’s!
My top pick from Le Galion: Snob – A fruity, spicy and floral fragrance that reflects the high fashion and high society of the 1950’s when women showed a bit more attitude, vaguely haughty and somewhat snobby.
Head Notes: Mandarin, Bergamot, Saffron, Apple
Heart Notes: Rose, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Iris
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Cedar, White Musk
Heeley Perfumes Paris: Contemporary, elegant and highly wearable scents created by English designer James Heeley.
My top pick from Heeley: Coccobello – A tropical island paradise bottled! An exotic, fruity floral fragrance perfect for any beach holiday. Definitely a seasonal perfume, but one that can lift your spirits even in the dead of winter.
Head Notes: Palm leaves, Gardenia
Heart Notes: Fresh coconut, Sea Salt, Bourbon Vanilla
Base Notes: Virginian Cedarwood, Benjoin, Sandalwood
J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin: A family pharmacy business founded in 1856 by manufacturer of musical instruments Joachim Friedrich Schwarzlose, which had gone defunct after World War II. The brand was restored in 2012 with the launch of four fragrances inspired by classic scents of the house.
My top pick from J.F Schwarzlose Berlin : A1-33 – A gorgeous mandarine neroli based fragrance that “literally breathes Berlin air”. The name refers to the original car license plate number of pre-war Berlin, thus uniting the old with the new.
Head Notes: Lime (linden blossom), mandarine, pepper
Heart Notes: Magnolia, jasmine, iris
Base Notes: Woody notes
D.S. & Durga: A Brooklyn based perfume house founded by David Seth Moltz and Kavi Moltz. They offer small batch unique fragrances created in-house.
My top pick from D.S. & Durga: Siberian Snow – A floral, herbal and woody–powdery fragrance worn by Countess Anna Vladoska at her legendary balls. Perfect for the colder weather ahead.
Head Notes: Wintergreen mint, cistus labdanum, insence
Heart Notes: Styrax, jasmine sambac, patchouli
Base Notes: Amber, civet, opoponax
