Since its inception in 2000, Vivier Pharma has been developing high grade pharmaceutical grade skin care products specializing in topical vitamin c serums. Their passion for results oriented skin care has yielded formulations that visibly improve and restore the skin, as well as offer solutions for treatment, maintenance and sun protection. Recently, we had the opportunity to interview Jess Vivier, founder and CEO of this well respected and successful Canadian company. We asked Mr. Vivier to share his vision on the importance of choosing an effective and quality skincare line, what makes Vivier Pharma and it’s sub-labels stand out from other pharmaceutical skin care lines, and what new products we can expect from this evolving brand.
How did you come to start VivierSkin?
VivierSkin started as a challenge. Our formulator, who still works with us today, and I sought out to stabilize Vitamin C in 1997. At the time there had been a wealth of clinical studies showing the merits of L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) as an essential component in anti-aging. The challenge was that no one was able to make it stable. L-Ascorbic Acid is very unstable and starts to oxidize immediately, gradually producing colour changes (orange/brown) which reduces its potency. Following years of R&D we achieved our goal and patented our Vitamin C serums. We sold our first Vitamin C serum in 2000 and we are now known as having “the world’s #1 Vitamin C”.
VivierSkin is synonymous with Vitamin C. Why is Vitamin C so important for your skin?
Vitamin C is a star anti-aging antioxidant. Its benefits for the skin are well documented. Vitamin C protects the skin and helps prevent wrinkles, it helps repair skin damage, it helps even skin tone and improves skin texture. In short, stable Vitamin C, in L-Ascorbic Acid form, is one of the most important anti-aging ingredients available
What makes VivierSkin stand out from other skin care lines?
First and foremost, we are a proud Canadian company. We manufacture our products in Quebec. We are proud of our roots. Secondly, we are a pharmaceutical company. Everything we do is at pharmaceutical standards. This is a step above what is required by Health Canada but everything we do is about delivering visible results through the quality of our products. That brings me to the last point, results. We deliver visible results! That’s what brings patients back and makes them want to tell their friends and family about VivierSkin products.
With is the right way to apply VivierSkin Vitamin C serums?
It’s easy. First, cleanse your skin. Towel dry. Next, apply your toner with a cotton pad. Then place two to four drops of VivierSkin Vitamin C serum in the palm of your hand (resist the temptation to apply more!). Use your fingertips to apply a thin layer to your face (avoiding your eye area), your neck, chest and on the back of your hands. Follow with a VivierSkin moisturizer and, in the morning, a VivierSkin sunscreen.
What are the essential products in the line for someone wanting to switch to VivierSkin?
There are 4 parts to VivierSkin: PREPARE (cleansers, scrubs, toners), CORRECT (eye treatment products, serums, complexes), MOISTURIZE (moisturizing creams) and PROTECT (broad-spectrum sunscreens). With warmer weather around the corner, what are some tips that can help transition our skin care routine into summer?
VivierSkin products are light, virtually odourless, they don’t leave a sticky residue and they absorb quickly into the skin. For that reason we find that most VivierSkin users continue using the same products year-round. Of course the use of a broad-spectrum facial sunscreen is more important than ever in the warmer months, but that is something we advocate throughout the year.
