The LA PEAU Story: “Citizens of the world”, Carla-Maria and Irma Khanjian were born in Lebanon, of Armenian origin, and immigrated to Canada. Carla and her sister Irma – who now lives in Geneva, were employees for 4 years at BFutur Suisse SA, a Geneva based Swiss biotech company specialized in Cells & Tissues Engineering and are now the proud owners of BFutur Suisse – manufacturer of one of the best anti-aging skincare lines named LA PEAU.
We loved it so much, we just had to buy the company,” explains Carla Khanjian, who now owns with her sister, Irma, BFutur Suisse, the biotech company that developed the LA PEAU skin care line.
Recently, we had the opportunity to interview Carla-Maria Khanjian, and we asked her to share her vision on the importance of choosing an effective and quality skincare line, what makes LA PEAU and stand out from other pharmaceutical skin care lines, and what new products we can expect from this evolving brand.
LA PEAU is manufactured in Geneva Switzerland. How did you and your sister Irma start this skin care line and then go on to open a North American branch office in Montréal Canada?
As fate would have it, Irma’s personal life took her to Switzerland. In Geneva she joined an investment firm whose clients included the founder of Befutur Suisse, a cutting-edge Swiss biotech company that specialized in cells and tissues engineering. I had just returned to Montreal, after 3 years in Shanghai – opening up the Chinese branch of a Canadian chemical company.
During this visit to North America, the founder of BeFutur Suisse offered me an executive position within the biotech company. Hence we joined the corporate ranks of Befutur Suisse – the company specialized in cells & tissues engineering in 2001. However, due to divergences between the founder of BeFutur Suisse and the shareholders, the founder was ousted from the biotech company. Encouraged by spectacular antioxidant test results, we organized a management buy-out from its 14 shareholders in Europe, to help develop and launch a new line of skin-care products called LA PEAU, using the proprietary technology of the biotech company based on stem-cell research. Teaming up with an elite laboratory and renowned scientists from Stanford University, after tireless efforts, sleepless nights, and a shared vision, we bought out Befutur Biotechnologies Suisse in 2006, becoming the proud owners of BeFutur Suisse, with headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland and the North American branch office in Montreal, Canada.
The BCell complex appears to be a powerful ingredient in the formulations of LA PEAU’s 3-product skincare range. What is it and why is this such a vital ingredient for anti-aging skin care?
A proprietary molecular complex, the BCell, stabilized after 5 years of stem-cell research by our biotech experts from Geneva and Stanford Universities, is the basis of our 3 product skincare range LA PEAU; it is a revolutionary complex, stemming from years of research on the skin, that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It stimulates cellular metabolism to nourish and regenerate the skin. BCell is free of any animal protein. It is composed of the finest antioxidants, amino acids, oligo elements & vitamins with proven anti-wrinkle properties; it regulates the skin’s moisture level while providing long-lasting hydration.
The LA PEAU skincare range distinguishes from the other anti-aging skincare products, mainly by its biotech research and proprietary technology of delivering the tiny molecules of vitamins & antioxidants into the skin without any evaporation. The fast-absorbing light texture of the products melts on the skin. The fact that LA PEAU has no animal substance whatsoever, implies that it does not contain silicone (silicone renders the product unctuous & “creamy” and creates a greasy filter on the skin. This is why people perceive that their skin is hydrated – but in reality greasy creams clog the pores). Since LA PEAU has no silicone, there is no greasy filler, only easy absorption of all the nutrients by the skin. The BeCell Complex, the main active ingredient of all LA PEAU skincare products, is in liquid form, made of very tiny molecules that allow for smooth penetration; it is a mixture of anti-oxidants, vitamins, oligo-elements, amino-acids, and minerals associated with unique healing properties. The LA PEAU anti-aging trio uses the BeCell complex in all its formulations and contains no animal substances. What is the most popular product in the range and why?
It is highly advisable to use the three products together as part of your skin care regimen. The difference between the three products is the amount of the concentration of our active ingredient (the BeCell). The concentration of antioxidants and vitamins vary between the Night Cream-Gel, Day Cream-Gel and Eye Contour Gel. Our dosage of antioxidants and vitamins is exactly what skins need on a daily basis. Rare are products with this fast absorbing – yet hydrating – texture; the daily requirements of vitamins are delivered gradually throughout the day, without a lack of neither moisture, nor a messy greasiness.
- The Night Cream-Gel contains 20% of the BeCell (our active ingredient composed of vitamins, antioxidants, amino acids and trace minerals) – this is the maximum amount of vitamins that our skin can absorb well (without being evaporated).
- The Day Cream-Gel contains 10% of the BeCell.
- The Eye Contour Gel contains 15% of the BeCell.
LA PEAU products have a neutral pH; our emulsion allows for an initial neutral pH of 6.5 to 7 upon application to the skin, which then evaporates and self-adjusts to the skin’s natural slightly acidic pH of 4.5 to 5. These percentages represent the required daily dosages for balanced, healthy glowing skin.
How do LA PEAU products feel on the skin?
LA PEAU revolutionized the skincare industry with its unique fast-absorbing texture.
LA PEAU came up with a totally new texture (half gel/half cream) – never used before as part of a sufficient skin care regimen: moisturizing the skin plus acting as an anti-aging product by itself. Prior to LA PEAU, textures of face creams were much more unctuous and greasy, with the wrong perception of hydration! What was happening was the fatty molecules were clogging the pores obstructing the absorption of all vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. We have done all the necessary tests in Switzerland and we will be launching it sometime soon. Here it is important to say that we are proud to be a 100% SWISS company. You can launch any product in North America without doing any of these required tests. In Switzerland, they are very strict – in the sense that you can not sell a product if you have not done all the tests necessary. That explains why real Swiss products are so much appreciated!
