Taking on the dual title of Emperor and King is no easy feat! Our dear Napoleon did exactly that in 1804. To celebrate this monumental achievement, his master perfumer François Rancé, created a fragrance dedicated to Napoleon’s masculinity and fiery nature. Le Roi Empereur by Rance 1795 is a Spicy Oriental fragrance fitting for a king! This is a well-blended fragrance combining the fresh scent of lavender and orange flower, together with the subtle tones of anise, cardamom and cinnamon. An intense leather accord is what gives this fragrance its masculine character, while cedar and musk provide intensity and strength. At first sniff, it is clear to me that this is a cologne as the lavender and orange flower give off a clean cool scent. As the middle and base notes kick in, the fragrance warms up and softens with the concoction of spices and amber. Not too powdery, not too spicy, just right. A everyday fragrance with a royal appeal!
