Histoires de Parfums 1828 Jules Verne is a gorgeous other worldly masculine fragrance with incredible charm and sophistication. The quality and composition of ingredients are quite rare these days and I think that is what makes this scent so special – think circa 1920’s Boardwalk Empire and you will see where I am going with this. Before even smelling 1828, I got the sense that this EDP reflected a stereotypical cologne with its bright, fresh citrus top notes combined with cool eucalyptus – a green, woody aromatic vibe. The spicy heart notes are subtle, as the nutmeg and sharp pepper adds a slight edge to the sweet tangerine and helps to intensify the woods that start to make their way to front, pushing the citrus notes behind. As the cedar and incense pick up strength, I can still smell the spices and 1828 turns a bit sticky sweet. Not overbearingly sweet, but perhaps not the best scent to wear in hot weather. In the final stages, you are left with alight woody scent that is fresh and sweet with a kick. A legendary fragrance for men of distinction and perfect for all year around, but especially in the Springtime!
