A Little History …
You may hear a lot of buzz about peels these days as they have become one of the most popular esthetic treatments at the moment. But, did you know that peels have actually been around for a very long time? In fact, women of ancient Egypt used a variety of methods to shed the excess dead skin cells off their skin to make it more beautiful. They used powdered alabaster and salt, lime, mustard, sulfur, extracts of animal oils, sour milk, fruit juices, etc., to make skin smoother, cleaner and whiter. And so, while we were not the original creators of this treatment, we did and continue to improve the technique.
Do you know about all the benefits of a peel? Whether you want to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, treat acne, even out skin tone or restore brighter, glowing skin, peels have proven to be a great solution!
What is a chemical peel?
Facial peels have long been part of basic skin care and rejuvenation. It can be defined as skin exfoliation stimulated by a chemical solution that rids the skin of impurities and dead skin cells. These treatments help to correct sun damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, keep acne under control and brighten the complexion.
Facial peels are available in various combinations and concentrations ranging from mild to strong. After a consultation and assessment of your skin condition, and depending on your specific concern and desired outcome, we will determine the appropriate peel application. Even the most gentle peel, repeated (a series of peels may be recommended), and combined with good skin care maintenance, can yield long lasting results.
Peels are suitable for all skin types and cause very few side effects, with the exception of a slight transient redness and peeling that lasts only a few days depending on the concentration of the peel treatment.
As the weather gets cooler and cooler, now is the ideal time to begin a series of peels. If you start a series of treatments now, you can enjoy a fresh, more radiant complexion in time for the holiday season! Your friends will marvel at the brilliance of your skin without knowing why!
