Fragrance Tip: Successful Layering – There are two schools of thought on layering fragrances. “The Purists” would argue that the fragrance is a finished work of art and any tempering will ruin the perfect balance that the perfumer has achieved. “The Experimentalists” on the other hand tend t look outside the box and see potential in layering fragrance to be able to come up with interesting olfactive combinations. Are you an “Experimentalists, try layering Orange Sanguine with Vanille Insensée. This is a trick I learned from Gerard Camme, President of Atelier Cologne when he visited with us. I discovered that the safest way to layer successfully is with citrus notes because they blend easily with floral woodsy and even amber fragrances. The base notes in Vanille Insensée are Vanilla from Madagascar, oak wood and amber. The combination of these two colognes yields a gorgeous “creamsicle” kind of scent (tangy, sweet and warm). The smell is sure to bring you back to your childhood on a hot summer day. I was immediately sold on this blend! Perfect for the cold winter months to lift my spirits, and perfect for the summer season, for obvious reasons;)
